China’s Nervos Network has launched a $5 million fund to support projects building decentralized exchanges, lending platforms, and other DeFi protocols.
2. Castle Island Ventures| $50m| new fund
Castle Island Ventures is launching a new $50 million fund to invest in DeFi and Stablecoin projects.
3. Spartan Group| $50m| new fund
Spartan Group, the digital asset advisory and investment company based in Singapore and Hong Kong, revealed the launch of a $50 million venture fund. DeFi protocols that have already received Spartan’s investments include MakerDao, Kyber Network, and Synthetix.
4. Omni Analytics and others| $1m| The Ethereum Foundation | grant
The Ethereum Foundation has granted $1 million to community projects that support Ethereum 2.0’s staking features. Notable projects that received funding as part of this month’s payouts include CoinCashew’s guide to Ethereum 2.0 staking, Bitfly’s beacon chain explorer, Omni Analytics’ validator health tracker, and a research program at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
5. BlockFi | $30m| new fund
Crypto lender BlockFi has launched its bitcoin trust. With a 1.75% management fee, the fund started taking subscriptions last Friday and the fund has nearly $30 million in assets under management. The fund’s assets are custodied by Fidelity Digital Asset Services, Davis Polk & Wardwell will act as BlockFi’s legal counsel in connection with the trust, Coin Metrics will provide index and pricing data, and Grant Thornton will serve as the fund’s auditor. BlockFi will be announcing a partnership with a broker-dealer before the shares are publicly traded.
6. IDEO CoLab | $100m| new fund
The IDEO CoLab Crypto Fund II LP plans to raise $100 million with the aim apparently being to invest in blockchain and defi startups. Ideo has funded a number of them already, with the VC stating in October that only $21 million had been allocated for the crypto fund.
7. SCB| $ 50m | new fund
Siam Commercial Bank — Thailand’s oldest bank, established by royal charter back in 1907 — is cementing its reputation as a strong backer of innovative financial technologies. The institution’s venture arm, SCB 10X, has today announced a new $50 million fund that will be dedicated to investments in global blockchain, decentralized finance and digital asset startups in their early and growth stages.

Solana will host a DeFi hackathon offering a $200,000 prize pool and $200,000 in seed funding to aspiring developers.
9. Plasm Network | $2.4m| Binance Labs and others| series A round
A hub for decentralized apps (dApps) Plasm Network on Polkadot has netted $2.4 million from investors, with Binance Labs leading the round. Others investors are HashKey, LongHash, Digital Finance Group and PAKA Ventures.
10. ETH | $33m in trading| futures
CME’s ether (ETH) futures product saw 388 contracts traded on its opening day, according to Tim McCourt, CME’s Managing Director and Global Head of Equity Products.That’s about 19,400 ETH, or $33 million. “The response to Ether has been overwhelming,” said McCourt.

Forbes has published a list of the largest companies in the world that, to varying degrees, use blockchain technology in their activities. Crypto financial services firm Ledn has raised $2.7 million in a seed extension round. The round was led by White Star’s Digital Asset Fund, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Darrow Holdings (an affiliate of Susquehanna International Group), CMT Digital and others.

Kenanga has acquired a 19.0% equity interest in Tokenize Technology (M) Sdn Bhd (Tokenize Malaysia), one of the three licensed Digital Asset Exchanges (DAX) by the Securities Commission of Malaysia (SC).
14. Polkamarkets | $625K| Moonrock Capital and others| private round
Polkamarkets has closed $625K private fundraising round. Moonrock Capital, Morningstar Ventures, NGC Ventures, Astronaut Capital and Spark Capital are among investors. Polkamarkets is a gamified prediction market on Polkadot.
15. Bitfarms | $31m| institutional investors
Bitcoin Miner Bitfarms will raise $31M in sale ofsShares to institutional investors. According to a press release on Monday, the firm expects gross proceeds of about CAD$40 million (US$31.3 million) via the sale in the U.S. of 11,560,695 common shares, alongside the option to buy another tranche of the same number of common shares, all for CAD$3.46 (US$ 2.71) per share.
The net proceeds of the private placement will be used to purchase additional miners, expand infrastructure and boost working capital.

Carnomaly is bridging the gap between blockchain and the automotive industry. The team holds IEO on ProBit exchange with $5m softcap and $20m hardcap.
17. Bill Miller’s Miller Value Fund| $2.25b| new fund
Bill Miller’s Miller Value Fund is seeking permission from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to allocate a portion of its $2.25 billion fund to Bitcoin. In its official filing with the SEC, the Miller Value Fund says it may allocate a significant portion of its assets into the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) through the Miller Opportunity Trust.

Celo, a decentralized payments protocol, has closed a $20 million fundraise from investors including Andreesen Horowitz (a16z), Greenfield One, and Electric Capital. The latest investment brings Celo’s total fundraising to $65 million, with past backers including Jack Dorsey and Coinbase Ventures.
24. SuperFarm|$1.2m|Animoca Brands and others| strategy round
SuperFarm is a cross-chain DeFi protocol designed to bring utility to any token by turning it into an NFT farm with no code required. Project raised $1.2m from Animoca Brands, Bitcoin.com, Black Edge Capital, Spark Digital Capital, Genesis Block Ventures, AU21 Capital, Woodstock, Solidity Ventures and others.
25. North Island Ventures|$72m|new found
North Island Ventures raised a $ 72 million cryptocurrency fund. The fund has previously invested in Dapper Labs, Algorand, Axelar, Nori and other cryptocurrency startups.
