- AnrKey | $1.2m| Moonrock Capital and others| private round
AnrKey, DeFi & NFT $ eGaming project featured in the previous Crypto Deal Flow issue announced raising $1.2m from Moonrock Capital, Master Ventures, Definition Fund and 16 private investors.
2. Square | $10m| green energy for bitcoin mining
Fintech company Square (developing the CashApp app) will spend $10m on initiatives and practices that will allow mining bitcoins using renewable energy sources.
3. SBI and SIX | joint venture
Switzerland’s principal stock exchange, SIX Swiss Exchange, and Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings have announced a joint cryptocurrency-related venture. The venture will target institutional clients, incorporating technology and market expertise from both SBI and SIX. The platform will include a wide range of services such as issuance, listing, trading, CSD infrastructure, storage of tokens, cryptocurrencies and regulated digital assets.
4. EPNS | $750k| The Lao, MetaCartel and others| seed
Ethereum Push Notification Service (EPNS), a push notification service for the Ethereum blockchain, has raised $750k from The Lao, MetaCartel, Fourth Revolution Capital, BlockRock Capital, LD Capital, D64 Ventures, Moonwhale Ventures, DeltaHub Capital, and private investors. The valuation for all tokens is $5m.
5. UnionBank | $187m | tokenized bonds
UnionBank has partnered with Standard Chartered Bank to issue $187m in bonds through a blockchain platform it has jointly developed. Tokenization of classic financial instruments is gaining momentum.
6. Blockchain R&D Fund | $9m | Singapore
With blockchain seeing increasing adoption in Asia, Singapore plans to invest $9 million to boost utilization of the novel tech in several sectors of the city’s economy. The fund will focus on real cases of blockchain technology application in agriculture business, logistics and other sectors of the economy.
7. Bit Digital | $13.9m| miners are bought
We wrote about mining company Bit Digital and its plans to buy equipment for $13.9m on November 15. The company has completed the purchase of 17 996 ASIC miners Antminer and Whatsminer. For this purchase, the company sold shares at $3.2 per unit, the current share price is $6.4. Miners also know how to “farm yield”.
8. TheAPIS | $3m| BTX Capital | strategic round
TheAPIS, an open source decentralized API platform, has announced a strategic investment of $3m from venture capital firm BTX Capital. APIS is agnostic, that is, it can work with various blockchains. Initially, development is underway for Ethereum and Filecoin.
9. MicroStrategy | $634m| convertible notes
MicroStrategy is going to raise up to $634m through convertible notes with a yield of 0.75%, paid twice a year. The company plans to invest the raised funds in bitcoin in accordance with its Treasury Reserve Policy. The bonds will be redeemed in 2025 unless they have previously been converted into cash or common stock at $ 397.99 per unit.
10. Greenfield One | undisclosed sum| Bertelsmann | investment in fund
Bertelsmann, an international media concern that controls the publishing and printing industry in Germany (with revenues of 18 billion euros in 2019), has invested in the Greenfield One cryptocurrency fund. The fund invests in cryptocurrencies on early stages and is known for investing in projects such as NEAR, Spacemesh, Arweave, Dapper Labs and others. The amount of the deal has not been disclosed, but with such a scale, it can be assumed that we are talking about tens of millions of euros.
11. Liqwid | $250k| Project Catalyst program from Cardano community
Liqwid, a DeFi platform on the Cardano blockchain that allows investors to earn interest on their assets and/or borrow money, received $250k through the Project Catalyst program (a kind of Gitcoin analogue, but for Cardano). A total of $70m in ADA tokens has been allocated for funding in this program.
12. Bitso | $62m| QED Investors, Kaszek Ventures and others| series B round
Crypto exchange Bitso has raised $62m from lead investors QED Investors and Kaszek Ventures with Coinbase and Pantera Capital. The exchange is focused on the Latin American market, with a particular focus on Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
13. Core Scientific | $23m| Foundry| investment to buy miners
Core Scientific, the largest cryptocurrency mining company in the US, announced a partnership with Foundry and raised $23m to buy mining equipment for itself and its clients. As a reminder, Foundry is a subsidiary of the Digital Currency Group (DCG).
14. Bitmain | $8m| VBit Technologies| purchase of miners
Bitmain, the world’s leading manufacturer of cryptocurrency mining hardware, announces that its regular customer VBit Technologies has acquired over 3 000 Antminer Series 19 miners for over $ 8m. The equipment will be delivered from December 2020 to August 2021.
15. Utopia Genesis Foundation | $2m| Bitfinex| IEO
The Utopia Genesis Foundation, a music blockchain platform, will host an IEO on the Bitfinex crypto exchange. 6,250,000 UOP tokens will be sold at 32 cents per token, thus the amount of funds raised will be $ 2m. IEO starts on December 16th.
